I know what you're talking about, but I think this method makes more sense. Find/Change should be treated like a panel, basically, and all the panels are toggles: KBSC to show them, and same shortcut to close them again.

Obviously, it's the kind of thing that would be cool to have as an option, but I think Adobe doesn't want to offer a bazillion different preferences.
