Yes when I place the TXT file there is an override (meaning the English USA language is overriding the paragraph style predefined language) and yes before placing I’ve checked and None was selected in the Character Styles panel.

So that is my question why is the English USA language overriding my default language?
The only answer I can come up with is that InDesign is preserving the TXT file “native” or “embedded” language.

I manage to workaround this by showing the import options (for TXT files) and changing the language.
And after doing that once my selected language has became the default for any new TXT placed file (so I don’t have to show the import options every time I place TXT files anymore). One down one to go.

The same thing is happening with a Word file (.DOCX) but in this case the Import Options dialog box (MSWord Import Options) doesn’t show the language menu.

So if I keep all the default import options a new style named “Normal+”, with an override and a hard disk icon besides it is created (not good).
If I check the Remove Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables option the Basic Paragraph Style is applied with no overrides but all the other Word formatting is lost (not good either).

So, in the case of Word files, what I’m looking for is a way to keep all the Word formatting only changing to my default language.
