About
Karen McCall, M.Ed., Digital Accessibility Consultant and Educator, owner of Karlen Communications, has been providing a leadership role in the field of digital inclusion for over 20 years.
Karen wrote the first comprehensive book on creating and working with tagged accessible PDF in 2005, now in its 4th edition. From that book she branched out writing and self-publishing books on accessible Word and PowerPoint content.
Karen is a Canadian delegate to the ISO 32000 (PDF) and ISO 14289 (PDF/UA) committees, the ISO mirror committees for Accessible Tourism and the ISO mirror committee for Active Assisted Living. She is an active member of the technical standard committee for Plain Language and the technical standard committee for ICT; both standards are being developed for the Accessible Canada Act.
Karen has been a vocal advocate for a global inclusive education standard since 2009 and the rights of people with disabilities.
