I routinely get documents (CS6) from a coworker that have a missing font of “Times (OTF)”. If I use Find Font, I can change all instances to “Times” (style “Roman”) and then I never get the missing font again. I am trying to write a JavaScript script to do this automatically. What I’ve found is that evidently the “No Paragraph Style” style has the font family set to “Times (OTF)”. In addition, there are several user-defined styles in the paragraph styles list that also use that font. I can change the font family for the user-defined ones to anything but “Times” (such as “Myriad Pro” or “Times New Roman”) and my script works fine. If I try to change it to “Times”, it doesn’t give an error but the style’s font family is still “Times (OTF)”. In addition, it appears that I cannot change the “No Paragraph Style” font family in a script or the InDesign user interface. So I’m stuck. Any ideas for overcoming the problem with this missing font? Thanks!
