I want to chage workflow for magazine production. The company i work for is creating a large magazine in indesign, but i want to know if there is a faster way to create it. Right now they create each article for itself meaning if it takes up 4 pages then they create 4 pages in indesign and saves them as page 1-4 and so on. When sending to print they create pdf’s therefore they open up each indesign page and exports them. Would it be better to create ALL pages in one indesign document ? It would be a disaster if that one file was corrupted though. Can someone help me in the right direction ?? Thanks.

There are reasons for creating each spread or page in a different document, but the best reason is if you have many different people working on the magazine, and each person is assigned to one page or spread. But if one person is working on 1 article, then that whole article should be in a single document.

The answer to the corruption problem is not having separate pages. The answer is having good backups (with multiple versions). Use Save As or Save a Copy!
