Students and Pros: Win the Creativity for Social Justice Award
One category of the 88th annual Art Director Club competition is the Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Award, which recognizes work driven by creative passion and talent in the service of making the world a better place. Two awards will be given — the first to professional work, the second to student work.
Professionals:
The award will be given to professional work entered in any public service/non-profit/education category created on a pro bono basis to benefit those in need. Corbis, which has a long and established history of supporting social causes, will award a $10,000 prize to the non-profit client of the winning Gold Cube entry. This award celebrates the best work from dozens of eligible categories and continues to support social causes by rewarding organizations that nurture creativity and talent. The Corbis Award winner is selected by a cross section of judges from each category.
There is no additional fee to submit eligible work for the Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Award. Simply enter any project created for a non-profit organization on a pro bono basis in any public service/non-profit/education category. All entries must have been printed, published, aired, or live online for the first time between February 5, 2008 and February 1, 2009, in any country. Entries may be submitted by any company or individual involved in the creation or production of the work.
The Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Award is noted online as Corbis Award. You must check the box marked “Check here if work was performed on a pro bono basis for a non-profit organization.” The work will automatically be entered into the Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Award competition upon checking this box. There is no additional fee.
Students:
Student work is eligible for the Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Award if it is created for an existing non-profit organization. Approval by the existing non-profit organization is not necessary. One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to the student winner of the Corbis Award. The Corbis Creativity for Social Justice Scholarship will be sent directly to the winning student.
Student work will be judged using the same criteria and juries as professional work. Student entries can have been produced at any time, and are thus exempt from the production requirement time frame listed above for professionals.
Please note that students must be currently enrolled as undergraduates or MFA candidates and can reside or attend school anywhere in the world. All student work created within the confines of an accredited academic program, no matter where the program is located in the world, are eligible for the competition. Students are invited to submit unpublished work in any category, except Playground. All student winners will be published in the Art Directors Annual 88. Award winners (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) will be included in the New York and traveling exhibitions and in related advertising and promotional materials.
