I hope the following helps:

With InDesign open (no need for a document to be open):

1) if you don’t already have one, create a new set of keyboard shortcuts.

2) Go to the menu bar and go to edit. Scroll down and select keyboard shortcuts

3) It’s self-explanatory how to set one up and save.

4) after saving, you want to edit the keyboard shortcuts.

5) In the product area, choose “Type Menu” from the menu.

6) Scroll down to “Insert Special Character: Other: End Nested Style Here”

7) Select that, and in the bottom there will be a box called “New Shortcut”

8) Put your shortcut there. I use Control + E.

9) Assign it.

10) Save.
