    Help! I don’t what I have done wrong (if anything). It’s possible I have made a very basic mistake, but I thought I knew InDesign well enough to not have any such nasty surprises.

    I was working on a document last night and tried to edit text. What I got was not what I wanted and it took me some time to find how to close the window. And now – the Tools bar is grey, except for the Text tool. All I can do is edit placed text. I could place text as long as I copy/paste but I can’t adjust the text windows, flow on text or anything like that. And it’s the same for all my InDesign documents. I have urgent stuff to go to the printer, I just need to be able to make some last adjustments. Tight deadline. Of course.

    Any ideas?

    Helen, it’s hard to say what’s going on, but you should try resetting your InDesign preferences or re-install. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990
