No it can’t, email readers are very basic, they’re basically structured around tables.

And interactive emails (hyperlinks) are possible, but not animations, or other type of moving objects, as not all email readers are created equal.

Pics, text and hyperlinks, absolutely can be done.

Consider signing up for an email campaign service, like Customer MInds, Mail Chimp, Campaign Monitor etc.

As well as handling your database, it will also handle your unsubscribe options – which is a legal requirement with emails to provide unsubscribe options.

InDesign is definitely not the tool for creating this type of content. And PDFs is definitely not the format for the body of your email.
