Using Find/Change to add a style

I just tried Tina Henderson’s Tip of the Week, using Find/Change to add a style from another document. When I searched for CMYK = 0000 as she did and hit Find in the dialog box, I was offered only the option to change all, in which case all my text was changed to red (my style color), not just the single word, as in her example. Presumably, one would have to specify a word in “Find What” and then the color in Find Format, to isolate the change to one word, but that doesn’t appear in her example. Did I miss a step? I can see that this would be a cool option if one had two docs open and wanted to replace one character style with another from another document; not sure color substitution is the best example. Any thoughts?

Hi Nick. I set up the screenshots to go with Tina’s tip. The example shows how to replace manual text formatting (in this case 100% magenta fill) with a proper character style. The Change and Change/Find buttons will be grayed out until you click Find. Then you should have a choice of Change, Change All, and Change/Find (as long as the color is used in the second document). So you could choose where to apply the style. Hope this helps.
