Creating custom keyboard shortcuts for PDF presets

I have a publication I send to the printer who prefers each page sent as a separate pdf. I have a predefined pdf setting provided by them that I use to save each page. It would be handy if I could assign a keyboard shortcut to it. I understand the general concept of customizing keyboard shortcuts, but I don’t see a way to do this in this instance. Does anyone have any ideas?

So the filepath I’m talking about is File->Adobe PDF Presets->Define, [high quality print],[PDF/x-1a], [PDF/x-3], [smallest file size], my setting 1, my setting 2, etc…

I want to be able to set key commands to several of those if I could.

      thanks!

The only thing I can see is being able to set up a keyboard shortcut to bring up the PDF preset dialogue box but that’s about it.

Nothing that I know of to assign a keyboard shortcut to various presets.

Maybe a script would work? I don’t know as I’m not too good at scripts.

      Chris:

Perhaps the Page Exporter Utility script could be of help, that’s how I typically export single-page PDFs. I don’t recall if it works with CC, but I know it works through CS6 (I used it just this week). The file naming options have always baffled me a bit, but I just use Bridge to batch rename if need be.

I find it helpful to export one page manually using the desired job options and NOT having the PDF open in Acrobat Pro to preview (but do check it manually before the next step). Then run the script on the balance. Why? Because if preview was checked on the last PDF exported, once the script is running Acrobat will open every PDF as it’s created. It can get kind of messy.

      Good luck

        Bob,

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded that just now and when I have time I’ll dig into it and see if that can be of some help.
