      Hey all-

Laying out an 8-panel accordian folded brochure for a client. I’ve got 2 spreads set up w/ 4 pages each so that I can create grids for each page, but am wondering about how to set up the bleed for this kind of document? In the past, I’ve been advised to design using this setup, and then place the artwork into a new document that only has 2 pages, extending the bleeds and indicating fold lines via guides.

There must be a less hack-y way to do this, no? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Tony,

Assuming four panels each side, I’d say you have it set up perfectly. Just enter the bleed value in the document setup. You’re using an accordion fold, so you shouldn’t need to shorten any panels. (If you did, that’s a job for the Page Tool.) When you export (or print), just indicate spreads for each group of four panels and use InDesign’s trim marks, they’ll suffice for fold marks.

The artwork place in a new 2-page document just seems ancient past to me.
