InDesign CS6 crashes when updating stories

We’ve got a problem that pops up—often enough to be aggravating but not often enough to figure out the cause—where InDesign CS6 will crash when you try to update a story that was edited in InCopy CS6. Currently we are using a workaround that involves placing the affected story in a new document and copying the text, unlinking the story in the working document and replacing it with the copied text. Once all of the stories have been replaced, they are re-exported.

Has anyone come across this problem and know the cause? Is this something that has been remedied in CC?

      Thanks,
      Kimmi

Lots of folks have this issue. It started for us when we upgraded to CS6. No solutions and Adobe is useless when trying to find an answer.

      Our work around:
      1. open the document without updating links
      2. unlink all the text boxes that need updating
      3. place all the incopy files that needed updating as new text blocks.

I don’t have to create a new document and all your styles are still there. We tried creating new docs but that didn’t help.
The downside is this will have to be done every time you need to update.

      I feel your pain.

It happens to me all the time!

First, as I have CC and CS6 both, I was warned I must get incopy changes made in same version as my open Indesign file is.
Ok done, now I am working only with CS6 (converting all Indesign files to CS6 before making assignments)

But.. in 30% cases an update causes program crash.
Oh my God – to do all this work Melanie wrote above???

I also solve this by converting files to idml and back, … , it helps, but workflow is getting crazy :(
