LAB color the RIP

My problem is when I'm using a spot color in InDesign CS6, regardless if it is imported or made straight from InDesign, it shows up in the swatch pallett as a LAB color. This is an issue when I export my file to rip, the rip asks to edit color and the swatch appears in color list but it has no color and is blank. We always rip .eps files, that is how we are set up. The eye dropper shows color but doesn't show any on the proof or in the pdf, and if I was to output it I would have a blank film. We use Rampage 10.2 a very old system by technology standards. We still use film as well. Is there any way to change how InDesign deals with this? We use a lot of spot colors. This is a potentially big issue.

Thanks for your suggestion Gert. I did read the article but it really is not of much help. I have already added the old swatch library to my CS6 swatch library. However I would not be allowed to remove a swatch library since this is my work station. What I need is to have the swatches read cmyk spot, not lab spot. Even when I add a swatch from the older color book. My rip does not recognize lab colors and there seems to be now way to change that either since it is a very old system.

First if you do remove the newer swatch books from the program swatch folder and use an older version of Pantone color books, I copied from a previous version and pasted into the CS6 folder then removed the new one, that seemed to work. But since that solution would get me in trouble I found another way. The work around solution I came up with was if you add your spot cmyk colors to the pallett before you place your document they will not convert to LAB. For instance I had to place a pdf with PMS 287 U into InDesign. If I just placed it in there it showed the LAB version. So I did a new color swatch, chose PANTONE+ Solid Uncoated then picked 287 U as a spot color (and it doesn't seem to matter if you use the new + book or an older version) then I went to the Color Mode drop down and chose CMYK then added it and placed my pdf. I had a cmyk swatch and was able to rip it perfectly. This works for placed images, but you have to add the swatch prior to placing it in the InDesign doc or it will add the color as LAB and it will not let you modify it. If your building a new doc, when adding your swatches just be sure to go to color mode and change to cmyk and you will be good to go. I hope this helps some one else who may have this same problem.
