placing graphic from ai to id through bridge getting text

      I was following a suggestion to turn off save as PDF to place a vector file through bridge into id and All I get is some help file text instead of the pic. It previews in bridge as a pic but places as text and anything I have saved after changing preferences, how do I reset defaults on the preferences in id. needing to have picin vewctor form for id class

      You shouldn't need to change your InDesign preferences. And Bridge isn't necessary either, although Mini Bridge (CS5 and up) can be handy.

      What you do need to do, however, is make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked when saving your AI file. InDesign needs that info to create the preview image. Read that “help file text,” that is what it telling you to do.

      Then, just place the AI file.
