      Hi,

      I just got assigned a task at work to make a design for a business card, and then put in the names/departments of 90 people on those cards. I assume there is an easier way to do it, but I manually changed the names on all those cards and it took me about 90 minutes or so. I got a list in Word from the client, with this structure:

      Name (tab) Department (paragraph return)

      Name 2 (tab) Department (paragraph return) etc.

      Then I made two text frames on the master page. One where the name was supposed to go, and the other one for the department. I also assigned two different styles to those text boxes.

      So my question is if there is a way to automate this process? Maybe place the Word file, paste it etc. into InDesign, and have the Names and Departments go into the right text boxes?

      Thanks =)

      You probably want to look into Data Merge.

      Although it's a bit dated, it's still relevant, so Michael Murphy's video is probably an excellent place to start: https://www.theindesigner.com/b…..erge-video

      Good luck
