Hello all, as a photographer, and writer working in the print/magazine world, that world is colapsing faster than a wet carboard box. So, I am learning Indesign 6, I plan on producing my own photo art books for the iPad using Indesign (of course), which brings me to my question.

Is there a way to produce an interactive PDF to ipad book where a user can view the thumbnailed photos on the page full screen? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction? A helpfull “How to” blog, video, podcast etc.

Thank-you for humoring the newbie and his nieve questions.

It's trickier than it seems like it should be. The trick is to make everything a button, and then use those buttons to hide and show the others:

There's a good title on interactive documents by Mike Rankin at lynda.com. I'm working on one now that might work for you, too, but it won't be out until spring, sorry!

Thank-you David, for the point in the right direction. A publisher I was working with, fired my editor and killed the book I was working on. So very tired and worn out with printed media now. So, it is time to make a serious attempt at putting out my own material and other photograpgers material.

It might be till spring that I become proficient at Indesign. So, I will look forward to your tutorial when it is done.

I have CS6 and the tutorial is written for CS4, so, Adobe in all it's wisdom, changed the buttons pallete.

What Im weanting to do in the lay out is, if the user sees a photo thy like in the story line, they can click on it to view the photo/photos full screen.

Would I have to include two copies of each image? one image/thumbnail in the layout linked to the same image only full size. Would I have to include a second set of images “hidden in the PDF” but linked to the thumbnails? (see example)

Again, sorry for the newbie questions.

Yeah, you'd probably need to do it with two graphic frames (the same image in two frames).
