      Well, I'm thinking I'm about 90% done with my 338 page book formatting….and BIG THANKS go to a few of you who are kindly tried to help me!! I failed on some of the shortcuts, but I figure I can learn those better next time.

      I am now left with four main final steps:

      1) Removing the page headers that came with the Word I placed into Indesign--they are showing on some pages, not showing on others, and they are also messed up! Any suggestions how I remove them?

      2) Adding the right headers plus page numbers

      3) Getting the index done

      4) Putting the right page numbers in the Table of Contents

      I PRAY I don't have issues with these like I did with so many other things and had to do them the slow and difficult way.

      Solutions:

      1. Are there dotted lines around the headers from Word? If yes, go to the master page and delete them. If you can select them on a regular page, then you'll have to remove them manually (sorry);

      2. Go to you master page and set the correct header and insert the page number (type menu – insert special char – -marker – current page number), do this for both pages;

      3. Index: I suggest you do some look up on this site, because this is a bit too complex to explain in this answer;

      4. If you have worked with different para styles, this cannot be difficult (layout menu, TOC, …).

      Good luck

      Gert, no dotted lines. Just the chapter title and page numbers on the right pages, and only on some pages. Manually, huh? Darn.

      I'll try your suggestion on add the new ones. Guess I also need to find a video on this skill.

      Thank you. You are always a great help.
