Before I placed a Word doc of a book in Indesign CS5, I created a document preset with 335 pages.

But I JUST discovered after formatting everything to the “last page” that I am still 50 pages too short! I placed 385 pages into a preset of 335 pages.

I do see the little red box out-port on page 335. I followed David's video directions to click on it with the black Selection tool, and click it onto the next page (which I created with Command>Shift>P). But…I get TWO problems: 1) It only puts HALF of the text that is supposed to be there, and 2) it puts the half text into a box to the side of the page. Very aggravating.

      What am I doing wrong?

Since I'm writing this late at night and wanted to keep exploring, I just learned how to add those 50 pages: File>Document>change the page number.

But I'm banging my head against the wall about what happened next.

I went back to the Doc of the book, highlighted those final 50 pages, and tried to paste them onto those 50 extra pages in Indesign. NOT. It only pasted the first page of those fifty pages, and looked like Texas horses poop because there are arrows on that page and they look terrible.

So…..I deleted what I pasted, then went back to the red box to see if I could link each page again. NOT. Nothing happens.

      Sobbing.

Doodlebug1, strange, if you click on the red box with the black selection tool, hold down shift (your loaded cursor should now have a arrow in it) and then click on the next page, your text should flow into the pages till the end (in fact it should be creating all the pages automatically).

Instead of command-shift-P (adds one page), use insert pages (layout menu) and increase the number of pages to 50 and after which page they should be added.

I know. :( It's definitely been a strange experience. I did threading fine elsewhere, but not at this part where I needed 50 more pages.

Nothing is coming out of the red box anymore. Perhaps that is happened because of what I did: 1) added those 50 pages 2) changed the RTF file (which I couldn't place anyway past page 17ish) to Text only, 3) copied and pasted the Glossary to the beginning of the 50 pages. I will then do the same with the rest of the book, copying and pasting one section at a time, until I have filled those 50 pages to the end.

      REALLY appreciate your help.
