I just updated to CS6 and find it buggy. It changes tools on its own, the swatches palette fill/stroke boxes will not work, I have to use the control palette. Some keyboard shortcuts don't work. I have to hit esc + v to get my selection tool. Anyone else having problems?

Yes, I'm experiencing a few of the same bugs myself, it may have to do with the integrity of your files. You may want to try reinstalling or removing any third party plugins. If this doesn't work all you can really do is wait. The version is new and will take awhile to work perfectly.

I was told by Adobe Support that the cursor tool changing back to a previous tool was a new feature and I am not able to disable it. I asked what the “feature” was called so I could learn more about it and was told that there is no name for it. It is possible that I am stuck in some old habits and cannot see the usefulness of this so-called feature, but it is frustrating enough that I took to the internet to ask for assistance.

      Have a good one!

I'm not seeing any of these problems. Have you tried rebuilding your preferences?

The “tool switching” may be “springy shortcuts” which means: You're working with one tool (such as the Frame tool), then you hold down a key (such as P to get the Pen tool), you keep holding it down while you drag with it (to do something), and then, when you let go of the mouse button, the tool reverts back to the Frame tool. But that is only for when you hold down the key and then move the mouse and then let go of the key — that should be rare.

      Hi David,

Took your advice and rebuilt the preferences file. Everything seemed okay so I changed over to my preferred workspace and keyboard shortcuts and found my cursor swapping to last used tools again. So, after a bit of trial and error, I believe I have it worked out to a keyboard shortcut that I've been using for the past twenty years from Aldus PageMaker. Cmd+Space for Selection Tool. After removing the shortcut, it seems to have eased my tool swapping nightmare.

So now I need to wonder about the online Adobe technician. She was very straightforward that this was a feature of CS6 and would be used in all further versions of the software. For the past few weeks I've been trying to wrap my head around who in their right mind would think this buggy cursor was a benefit.

Appreciate the tip and thank you for offering the advice.

      J.W.
