      I've been looking into this problem lately without finding any solution.

      Liz Castro mentioned somewhere, that Webkit might be able to solve the problem, but I have no idea how.

      Does anyone here have a solution?

      Your time is appriciated.

      Liz' Webkit-based solution only and specifically works for iBooks on the iPad.

      I'd rather steer clear from forcing this, because 'hyphenation' is a user preference in iBooks' settings, so the reader can decide for him/herself what they prefer.

      Liz Castro's post on turning off hyphenation in iBooks is here: https://www.pigsgourdsandwikis……n-and.html

      Liz's says to do the following:

      To suppress hyphenation, you can use the

      -webkit-hyphens

      property (Thanks, Rick!) just on your header elements:

      h1, h2, h3 {-webkit-hyphens:none;}

      Keep in mind iBooks is the only eReader that currently supports Webkit properties at this time I believe. You may want to create a separate ePUB for iBooks are at least test how heads display in other readers if you apply this fix.
