I use tiling and I like tiling, but once I hit the print button I'm committed to tiling. There's no way to undo it after you've used it. And if I save the document I've saved the tiling also, so the next time we want to print the file we need to make sure to notice if tiling has been set or not.
Often we're tiling because we've made a change in just a section of a large banner or sign and rather than waste the paper we'll print out the section. In Photoshop or Illustrator this is not an issue because you have the option in the print dialog box to move the file around in the print area to get exactly the area you want to print – but this is not something we can do in InDesign.
So is there a way to undo tiling after you hit “Print” without going back into the print dialog box, undo it, hit print again then quickly cancel it? Photoshop and Illustrator have a “Done” button so you can save your settings without actually printing. It would be nice to have it in InDesign also.
Adobe has made a lot of effort to make many features/options similar or common between the three applications but Printing is totally different in each application. I don't know why this has to be the case but it's a real pain.
