Setting row type in a table with merged cells

      Hi

I'm writing an Applescript to set table cell styles, and one thing I'd like to do is define the header rows (that repeat if it goes over a page), but I'm running into problems. The first is that the row type won't seem to set at all if there are merged cells. Even if it's something as simple as:

set row type of first row of myTable to header row

I get an error message 'Cannot set row type' if the row contains merged cells (either vertically or horizontally merged).

(Even if this worked, it would be too simplistic, but I'd like to see if this problem is fixable before going on to the next, as if it's not surmountable then there's no point bothering.)

      Can anyone help with this?

      Thanks.

The merged cells appear both in the first row and in the next one. It's kinda hard then, for InDesign, to decide what to repeat. Set your repeating rows to the first two, and you'll be fine. (It's also kind of hard to visualize what you'd expected to see, with merged cells to appear at the top of the next page.)

… Hang on. You are talking about vertically merged cells, are you? 'Cause horizontally merged cells never have been a problem for me, header or no header.

Sorry, you're right; I'd thought that horizontally merged cells triggered it as well, but I'd missed a vertically merged cell in my test table!

But I can't seem to set the first two rows to header rows at once: it keeps telling me that I can't set this property for plural class names. Obviously I can set the first row, then the second row, but that doesn't work for vertically merged cells.
