I've been dedicated to CS4, but I recently got a job that required different page sizes within a spread so I knew CS5 could tackle this and decided to go with the upgrade. The file has been built as a 4-page spread with the 2 outer pages being a smaller width than the interior ones. There are about 10 layers – some including effects. Most of the files are placed as low res FPO's at this point. Using Illustrator ai and Photoshop PSD and tifs for the most part.
Here's the annoying thing – every time I move an object, I get a trailing image and it makes it difficult to see where I'm moving things. The movements are jerky too. I've had to resort to turning the display to “typical” although I'd prefer to work in “High Quality”. I thought perhaps it was because this file was a bit more labor intensive, but I've encountered the same issue with a simple two layer file with graphic placed over top of an Illustrator background.
I've never had this kind of issue with CS4, so I wonder if there's something I'm missing – or need to adjust. Or is it CS5? Anyway, it bugs me.
I'm running this on a macbook pro 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3/2.53 Ghz i5 hooked up to an Apple Cinema Display that's about 5 years old.
I remember we used to increase the amount of memory for specific programs – somewhere. But I don't remember how to do that. As it is, in a normal workday, I end up with ID, Illustrator, PS, Acrobat, Email, Internet and Word all open at the same time and I jump from one to another.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
