    Help needed! We are having problems placing photos and screen shots. We have both saved as a high res. jpeg but when we go to place the images in Indesign they are pixilated (distorted). I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this. Is there a certain way to save or place screen shots so they come in to Indesign clear?

    InDesign will only show you a low-res preview of the image. As images can be quite large the low res preview allows resources to be allocated to other things. You can view a hi-res preview using the View>Display Performance

    The best thing to do with screenshots is nothing. Just place them as is.

    Follow Eugene's advice as far as setting your display prefs.

    We've tried presentation mode but its still distored. What we are doing is, we have the screen shot but have to add to it so we are adding text and arrows in illustrator. We then save it as a bmp and open it up in photoshop to crop it and then save it as a jpeg. Do you know a better way to keep the clarity of the screen shot but also add txt and arrows to it?

    BMP?! Well, there's your problem! That's a low-res, cruddy format.

    And if you want text and arrows, wouldn't you want them crisp?

    So place in Illustrator, add the arrows and text, then save as PDF or AI and just bring that in to InDesign!

    Or better yet, just bring the screen shot into InDesign and add the arrows and text there!
