I use the “i” key all the time to get the eye dropper on the fly when I have an object selected. But often I have type selected and I want to see how it would look in this or that color in a placed piece of art.

Of course once I decide on the color, I build it into the style sheet. But at the design stage, I like to tinker with colors… fast-like, ya know? tks!

You can assign a Keyboard Shortcut for this :)

      Go to edit>keyboard shortcuts

      Product Area: Tools

      Select the Eye dropper Tool

Insert the KBSC you want and then change the CONTEXT to Text

I just changed mine to CTRL SHIFT I – and now when I have text highlighted I can hit the KBSC select a colour to sample.
