In CS5 I've noticed that when I drag a box toward a guide, it doesn't snap to it as well as it did in CS4. Now when I drag a box to a guide, the box always overshoots or undershoots the guide and ends up being 1/8″ away from the guide. It's almost like it snaps to the guide and then suddenly jumps, like the guide is repelling the the box. I can't figure out why this is happening. Is there way to make boxes snap to guides better? I get tired of constantly trying to snap to a guide and then having to zoom in at 800% to place it along the guide.

I bet you have Smart Guides turned on and that's taking precedence over the main ruler guides. Try pressing cmd/ctrl-U to turn that off when you don't need it. Does that help?

Thanks! Yes, that took care of it. I always forget that I have it on. Is there a way to make the snap to guides work better when I have Smart Guides on? If not, I guess I can just toggle back and forth between having it on and off.
