Try updating/reinstalling your Wacom driver to address issue #1. My coworker used a tablet exclusively (bamboo model, I think) and hasn't had a single problem with it and CS5.

Likewise with InDesign, we haven't had any problem opening, saving or editing all of our legacy files after a couple months of using CS5.
