      Hello,

I have a newsletter that I work on every couple of months. They have a list of donors that they acknowledge in each issue that changes. I'm looking for a way to capture a phrase and then the added text at the end of the phrase.

It would look something like this:

Mr. Hammerstein, in honor of Robert Hammerstein

Mr. Hand, in memory of Mr. Hand, Sr.

      Dr. Jones

Mr. Baldwin, Jr., in honor of Fred Mann '88

“In honor” and “in memory” are the beginning phrases but then the text changes after that would need to be bold.

      Thanks for any help.

This is a bit ropey perhaps

      But give it a try

      ,s(in)sw+.+

      That will find

      a comma

      followed by a space

      followed by “in”

      and then a space

      and then a word

and up to the end of the sentence

      That's pretty solid.

I added a ? to the code after the comma. After looking through the text I realized that the department didn't always put a comma after the person donating money.

The code also picks up the comma and bolds it but this is definitely a great start.

      Much appreciated.

I thought you wanted the comma to be bold?

In that case just remove the comma from the search

It can be made slightly more solid since you know what items may follow the “in”. Thus you can avoid the likes of “in the absence of” :-D

      bin (honor|memory) .+

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

I'm still new to GREP. I can grasp it somewhat but I still get stumped a lot.

All the GREP codes worked. I used the last one and it seemed to grab what I want.
