Reply To: Indesign Book – chapter layout problem

If you want your first chapter to be a left hand page (that would be the first document in the book panel) to be a left hand page you have to open the document and go to Layout Numbering and Options and say Start Numbering at Page 2. This will make the first document a left hand page.

Then setting your Book Page Numbering Options and use the option “Continue from Previous Document” – this will let the chapters follow on in a natural order, so if chapter 1 ends on a left page, then chapter 2 will be facing that page.

And for example if Chapter 1 ended on a right hand page, then Chapter 2 would come directly after this, on a left hand page.
