Color difference between printing from InDesign directly and from the PDF made in InDesign.
      Example:

      1.
Print a photo with a blue sky will give the result of the photo with indeed a blue sky.

      2.
In InDesign I put some text on the photo and print it directly from InDesign that will give the same result a beautiful blue sky. I am happy.

      3.
When I make a PDF in InDesign by using export…… the PDF version looks perfect on my screen same blue sky as in Indesign…..but when I sent the PDF to the printer it will result in a purple sky. That looks not good !

I am printing to a printer-copier from Olivetti d-color MF250 which is not my printer and I think I can not change anything in the printer. I think it has to do with some export color settings when I make a PDF. I am using CS3 for the Mac.
      -transparency blend space CMYK
-Color settings: North America General Purpose 2 that is: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and us WebCoated (SWOP) v2
-In pdf export settings I used the standard High Quality Print preset and that is: No color conversion…..

So does anybody know what will go wrong with the colors when I make a PDF in InDesign and print that PDF ?
      Thanks a lot !

What colour space is the image in? If it's in RGB and you send it to PDF with no colour conversion then it's going to look different on screen than it does on print, because it has to be converted to CMYK which is a different Gamut to RGB.

You should talk to your printer about what colour destination to send to. US Web Coated couldn't be what you need unless you're sending to a Web printer, like for newspapers.

Most likely you'll need US Sheetfed, Euroscale Coated (or uncoated)<depending onn stock of paper>, or Coated or Uncoated Fogra (again coated and uncoated refer to stock of paper)

When you make the PDF in the output section of the dialog box you should be possibly sending your PDF to one of these Destinations.

I guess the only time you wouldn't would be if in Photoshop or other program that you converted the image to CMYK and used one of the destinations as the profile and then imported that to InDesign, then No Colour Conversion would be ok.

But I don't think you did that.

Sorry for the short reply but I haven't got much time to explain further. If this is over your head or I've only half explained everything I hope some others can help you out.
