I’m sure this topic has been done to death somewhere but i cannot find it, i would really appreciate any help whether it be a link or solution.

      Simply put, i have:

Folder A (contains hundreds of indesign files)
      >Links (contains links)

Folder B (contains hundreds of indesign files)
      >Links (contains links)

Folder C (contains hundreds of indesign files)
      >Links (contains links)

What I want to do is combine Folder A, B and C into a a new folder called “Indesign” and combine all the links folders into a subfolder of “Indesign” called “Links” shown below.

      Indesign
      >Links

Any idea how to update all the links once I have all the files in the correct places?

One other issue I face with this scenario is that the InDesign documents range from CS4 to CS6, so if that could also be updated I would have a perfect solution.

      Thanks in advance.

      Pantsbike,

I know this is an older post.

As long as you do not have a conflict with two separate files having the same name, you can dump all of the links into a single links folder and all of the InDesign files into the parent folder and you should not have any issues.

In regard to the different versions, you should consider a script that opens, saves, and closes the documents. An applescript or shell script should do the trick. If you do decided to explore these options, consider that missing fonts, links, and etc., may halt this type of automations.

Is there a reason that you want to up-save these documents? Are you trying to incorporate them into am InDesign Book?

Use Indesign to move all the links to one place, using the copy links command in the links panel menu.
