I have a series of documents that are all built as facing letter pages but recently learned that I need to convert them all to single-page tabloid spreads in order for automation involving the final PDF to function.

Is there a way to do so that would NOT require essentially recreating all 15 documents (some of which have over 100 pages)? I am able to adjust the page size using the page tool and then adjust the master pages using the master page options, but this still requires adjusting the content on every page of the existing document.

I’m very much hoping there’s solution out there that doesn’t require redoing several months’ worth of work.

      Thanks!
      Amanda

How about making a PDF with spreads and then printing from that?

Just to clarify Steve’s point: If you export a PDF of a facing pages document, you have an option for “Spreads” in the export PDF dialog box. When you do that, the two pages of a spread are treated as a single page.

Sorry I didn’t clarify this in my initial post, but exporting as spreads is our standard workflow and it doesn’t work in this situation. We have automation set up to read the page number from the TOC and extract individual spreads based on that information while tying together various meta data from both the TOC and the spread in question. The core issue is that the page number on the TOC doesn’t match the actual page in the resulting PDF.

Interesting. I’m not sure the best way to do this. I think these two articles are doing the opposite of what you want, but perhaps there are some hints that would help:
