Over the years, there have been several notable efforts to use fonts as the means to raise money for charitites. Perhaps the most notable is FontAid by the Society of Typographic Aficionados, which has raised money for many worthy causes. Now comes a font KLITSCHKO vs. ILLITERACY, which was created by professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko to raise funds for children’s educational projects worldwide.
What makes the font unique is the way it was designed. Klitschko, holder of four major heavyweight boxing titles, dipped his fists in blue paint, and punched out the letter shapes on 26 separate canvases.
You can download the font for free at linotype.com. The font license allows free use in personal work. For commercial use you have to obtain permission from the Klitschko Foundation. If you really love the font (or the cause), you can bid on one of the canvases at ebay.
