Placed PSD in InDesign C2020 creating large files

      I have not encountered this problem prior to updating to CC2020. I have saved the InDesign file, saved as an .idml and reduced the size of the Photoshop file but I still encounter the same issue – large .indd files and PDFs are huge even at exporting to smallest PDF size. Any insight or solutions?

      So you’re saying the same PSD file placed in InDesign 2019 made a much smaller INDD file? And a much smaller PDF file? That seems very odd. I have not seen any major differences like that.

      Just the opposite – the .indd and PDFs are huge. The same PSD files were placed in pre-2020 files with no “bloating”.

      I just placed a 13 MB PSD in CC 2019 and in CC 2020. The INDD file and an exported PDF is exactly the same.

      If you look in the Links panel, does the PSD image show up as embedded by any chance? That would make the INDD file bigger. As for PDF export, it depends entirely on what PDF Export preset you’re using.

      Perhaps the pdf export settings are not the same :)
