Shifting baseline in one particular font??

I’m creating matching posters for two different brands, with two different heading fonts. One of the fonts (Aller) operates normally, but when I switch to the second (Asap) the baseline shifts down and I have to enlarge the text frame to accomodate the extra space.

You can see an example here:

Both text frames are set to NOT align to the baseline grid, both have the text alignment set to top, and both are offset to the ascent. They are literally copies of one another, I’ve only changed the font.

It’s a real nuisance since the posters should look the same, and I end up having to manually shift the text up to match. Does anyone have an idea about why this is happening?

If you want to test the fonts themselves, they are both free downloads:
      First font: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/aller
      Second (problem) font: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/asap

Any help will be much appreciated!

I think this just how the designer of the font wanted it to look like.

Yes, different fonts take up different amounts of space, so this is a common problem that you are describing. One solution is to apply Auto-Size to the Text Frame (in Object > Text Frame Options) so that the frame expands automatically.
