Press proof still called SWOP?

Years ago a printer’s proof calibrated to their press was generally called a SWOP proof. I work freelance now and seldom get to work directly with a commercial printer, so I’ve lost touch with this. Is it stilled called a SWOP proof? I’m needed to recommend a client opt for this and I want to be sure I’m using the right term. They will be talking to the printer, not me.

      Thanks!

SWOP is a very specific standard for a web offset press (like what people print large-run magazines on). I do not recommend using SWOP as a standard.

Most printers will calibrate to Gracol or Fogra standards. I’d ask the printer if they’re calibrated to one of those.

Thanks so much. Great information, web offset magazines is what I was doing so that’s what I got at the time. Didn’t realize it was limited to that type of work.
