Hope for Version Cue Server CS4 Users?
Press Release
Adobe has announced the availability of a public pre-release version of Adobe Drive 2 on Adobe Labs. This pre-release provides Creative Suite 5 users the ability to work with assets stored and managed by an existing Version Cue Server CS4 installation. In addition, the pre-release provides a preview version of our integration with third-party asset management systems that support the Content Management Interoperability Specification (CMIS) interface defined by Oasis. This open standard is supported by a variety of content and asset management vendors (check with your vendor regarding CMIS compatibility).
Adobe Drive is a companion technology to Creative Suite that provides integrated access and management features in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for working with managed assets stored in a server-based content or asset management system. After installing Adobe Drive 2, users of Creative Suite 5 can connect to an asset management system and then utilize features inside their CS products such as open and save files directly from the CMS/DAM server, enter check-in or version comments, view multiple versions of managed files, and browse/search the CMS/DAM server for assets based on metadata.
Adobe Drive 2 will be released in final form as a free download from Adobe.com. This pre-release is appropriate for investigation and pilot deployments and should not be used for production deployments. Please visit Adobe Labs at https://labs.adobe.com/technologies/drive2/.
