      Hi there,

I’ve just upgraded to InDesign CC 13.0.1 and really dislike the way the zoom tool has changed its behavior. I used to be able to use the zoom tool to draw a boundary around the area I wanted to enlarge, and then, once I released the mouse button, InDesign would make that area as large as possible on the screen and centre it nicely.

Now, when I click and drag on something I want to enlarge, the screen enlarges dynamically while I move the mouse, which I find confusing, but leaves the item where it was on the screen, which is not always centred in the window.

I want the zoom took to work the way it used to, but I can’t find a preference with which to change it. Is it even possible, or do I have to learn to live with this forever now?

      Thanks,

      Patti

The new zoom behavior is actually quite nice once you get used to it. But you can turn it off:

Thank you David! I will give the animated zoom a little more time to grow on me – but I’m happy to know there’s a way to change it back if I just can’t get used to it.

I’ve just updated to OSX10.13.4 and Indesign CC 13.1 and Cmd+Space has stopped working to temporarily select the zoom tool. Double checked the post above, but my iMac doesn’t qualify.

I’ve seen this issue before, on an earlier CC version, which Adobe corrected eventually with a new updated version, after months of it not working. Anybody else experiencing this, and does anyone know if there’s a switch to turn it back on? I’ve managed to get the keyboard shortcut, but it selects the tool, not temporarily selects.

Been using this shortcut for over 10 years, so really slowing me down not having it as my main option.

Noticed lots of quick keys are now not working including the following.

Holding down CMD to select the direct selection tool
Holding down CMD to select the boxes underneath other boxes
Holding down CMD will adding a new guide so it appears across the whole spread, rather than just the page.
Holding down CMD+Space for Zoom tool in illustrator as well as indesign.
Holding down SHIFT while moving boxes to keep them Horizontal or Vertical with the current location.

I’m sure they’ll be more as I keep working. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Ian: You were not crazy. 2+ years later and that exact set of shortcuts is failing to work for me. Let’s re-re-start!

Ian, these are working for me with same OS and version. Double check your Edit->Keyboard Shortcuts, then it might be time to rebuild your Preferences?
