Photoshop CS Tips: Sharpening Images with the PhotoKit Plug-in

Sharpening images in Photoshop requires a good eye — and good software. Photoshop’s built-in sharpening tools are good, but don’t offer enough levels of control to cope with difficult images.
So a team of Photoshop experts — including creativepro.com contributing editor Bruce Fraser — developed a plug-in that addresses three types of sharpening: capture, creative, and output. (Bruce explained the concepts in an earlier feature on the site.)
PhotoKit Sharpener gives photographers much more control over how much sharpening is applied and where, thanks to a combination of automatic presets and manual brushes.

In this excerpt from “50 Fast Photoshop CS Techniques,” you’ll see how to use PhotoKit Sharpener to restore detail to your images.
We’ve posted this excerpt as a PDF file. All you do is click the link “Sharpening an Image with PhotoKit Sharpener” to open the PDF file in your Web browser. You can also download the PDF to your machine for later viewing.
