Meet Matboard

There’s no denying that Pinterest has a lot to offer creatives as a source of visual inspiration (and time-sucking pixel hoarding). But it can be a bit unfocused. Browse the Design category and you’ll see everything from infographics to artisinal lightbulbs. For an alternative that’s completely focused on graphic design, check out Matboard.

Like Pinterest, Matboard is a social bookmarking tool that offers users the ability to collect and organize interesting groups of images and video. You can browse and search what others have collected, and customize what you see by following your favorite creatives, searching geographically, and blocking the types of content you’re not interested in. You can fill moodboards with related content and use the site to promote your work by becoming a featured creative.

Matboard’s content categories include graphic design, print design, collateral materials, posters, ads, packaging, stationery, logos, magazine design, infographics, outdoor advertising, direct marketing, illustration, typography, vintage design, application and iOS design, web design, and photography.

Looks promising, but why do they repeat the same images over and over?

  • Mike Rankin says:

Good question. It is fairly new, maybe they’re still working out the kinks.

The Matboard makes it painfully easy to gather inspiration and ideas, whether from within the site, or any where else. Thanks!
