Introducing the New Adobe Spark

2

The power of video marketing is becoming very apparent, and creatives have more options than ever when it comes to embracing online video.

Adobe Post, a tool I previously reviewed, has evolved into Adobe Spark.

By combining the best aspects of Adobe Post, Voices, and Slate, Adobe has built a powerful tool that removes many of the barriers for online content creation.

Spark now enables you to create simple videos without learning complicated editing techniques or put your face on camera if you don’t want to.

This has some interesting implications where social media is concerned.

The far majority of social media platforms have embraced video in one form or another. Adobe Spark now means you can take advantage of this using the skills you already have as a designer and storyteller, without having to become a filmmaker or animator.

The tools and workflow are simple and straightforward enough for anyone to use, whether you are a creative pro or just an enthusiast.

By utilizing the features retained from Adobe Post, you can create images for any social media platform, such as Twitter, Instagram, or even a YouTube thumbnail, fairly easily. You can use your own assets or templates Spark makes available.

The convenience of using Spark also owes to the fact that it is both a free website and app, whereas most alternatives are either one or the other. Spark also allows you to consolidate the workflow instead of having to use a variety of tools to get something simple in front of an audience.

Adobe Spark retains some of the features from Adobe Slate, allowing you to make simple web pages and articles on the fly. At its core, you can think of spark as a lite content creation tool, which can be used anywhere across any device. Given the number of devices we have available to create and consume content, this is very practical.

Overall I’m very curious about what people will choose to create with Adobe Spark now that it has been released. One of the most practical ways I could see it being utilized is to make posts for images and video, made specifically for Twitter, Facebook or Instagram easier to produce for most people.

While there are a variety of options when it comes to posting images to social media, creating simple-to-produce (and easy-to-consume) video content, has always been a barrier for most people.

While these tools are not a replacement for more robust applications like Photoshop or Premiere Pro, they are a gateway into the Adobe ecosystem for people who find those tools intimidating, or don’t have the hardware to support them.

Only available for iOS… Guess I won’t find out if it is useful…

If iOS device owners can buy Android tablets for certain programs, you can buy an iPod Touch or secondhand iPad to get access to this.
