Free Mac Icon Font

2

In celebration of the Mac’s 30th anniversary, Apple’s offering a free font of almost every Mac model ever, called mac-icon-standard. It’s not a very fancy affair; the drawings of the computers are pretty basic. And it may not even be intended for public consumption. But it’s nifty nonetheless, and the price is right. If you’re interested in it, download mac-icon-standard now, because it may not be available for long.

The icons aren’t mapped to keystrokes, so to use the font you have copy and paste from a font utility, or use the Glyphs panel in an app like Illustrator or InDesign.

Then, if you’re a true Mac geek, you have the beginnings of your own personal Mac history infographic. And you can grab all the technical specs, dates, and prices from everymac.com. Not that I know anyone geeky enough to do that…

If I download and install this is it a safe guess that it is NSA-enabled?

  • Mike Rankin says:

Mmmm, could be. Convert to outlines just to be safe.
