Type-o-Matic Blends Electronic Communication and Vintage Typewriters for Modern Fun

Please note: There will be absolutely nothing of an educational nature in this news item.
Type-o-Matic is a new service that, while based in England, serves anyone anywhere in the world. Here’s how it works:
1. You enter the text of a letter and the address of the recipient into a form on the Type-o-Matic website and pay the fee of £9.50 (about US$14.75).
2. A Type-o-Matic employee rolls a sheet of white watermarked heavyweight writing paper into a vintage machine from the impressive assortment at Typewriter Heaven and types your message by hand. Spell-checking is not included.
Two of the machines that may be used:

3. The employee inserts an envelope into the vintage typewriter and manually keys in the recipient’s address.
4. The employee puts the letter in the envelope, seals it, and takes it to the post office in Oxford, England.
The Type-o-Matic website stresses that these missives are completely confidential and can be anonymous, if you wish. However, the website notes that, “We will neither type nor send any content which is malicious or connected with illegal activities. No ransom notes please.”
If nothing else, read the Type-o-Matic FAQs for a giggle. Here’s a sampling:
Couldn’t I just send my own typed letters for the price of a stamp?
Of course you could. Dig out that old typewriter and start typing. This service is for people who either don’t own a typewriter or who want the option of not having to type their own letters. If the prospect of owning and using a typewriter makes your toes tingle, head on over to the boiling cauldron of dactylographiles and make yourself known.

Thanks for the story and the links. Glad you enjoyed the description of the service as much as I did putting it together.
