Tree-Themed Design Resources

7

When the seasons start to change, we tend to notice more of the nature all around us. For me, it’s always been about the changing of the trees. When the first shoots of green start to appear, I know the warmer weather is on the way. I get so excited as the autumn leaves start to fall—which brings back memories of jumping into piles of crunchy leaves—yet I find something equally as beautiful in the empty-branched trees as winter starts to creep in. Below is a collection of tree-themed design resources, including brushes, vectors, illustrations, and other artistry inspired by the beauty of trees, no matter the season.

There is something romantic and otherworldly about trees shrouded in mist. These Photoshop brushes capture that mood perfectly.

Trees play a starring role in many of Su Blackwell’s book-cut sculptures. And they’re made from books. Which are paper. Which were once trees. Okay, I just really wanted to include her lovely work.

The tropical leaf designs—think Hawaiian shirts—on these fabrics have a wonderful vintage look. While the fabrics seems to only be available wholesale, they certainly provide a bit of tropical inspiration.

Snarled branches form the aptly-named Tree Like font. The Simple Hand Tree font features a hand-drawn look, and capitals with branches sprouting from them.

I adore this print of a teeny minimalist forest. I could see decorating a child’s room with these cute little trees. Or maybe my room.

True story: I got hooked on vintage nature and botanic prints in an old map shop in Stockholm. I’m pretty sure I could look at these prints all day.

These custom family tree creations take the “tree” motif and run with it. One option depicts children and grandchildren in the leaves and branches, while the ancestors are shown in the tree’s roots.

I couldn’t discuss trees without mentioning the star tree of every year: The Christmas Tree. This set includes Illustrator brushes for creating the tree’s branches, and a set of symbols to decorate the finished tree.

Great collection of resources! A few that I’ve clicked on are not free though, as the article title implies. Creative Market links seem to all have prices, ranging from 5-7, reasonable but still not free. Or am I missing something?

  • james bogin says:

Free means free. Some of these are lovely but have charges attached.

  • Robert Davis says:

    This is definitely not free.

Hello all! The headline was changed before being published and I, myself, just saw the error. I have fixed the headline. So sorry for any confusion!

  • Mike Rankin says:

Sorry folks, the confusion was totally my fault. We have removed the word “free.” It’s still a great collection of stuff and we hope you like it. Thanks Erica!
