Search the Best in Global Specialist Images with StockIndexOnline V2.0

StockIndexOnline (www.stockindexonline.com) has boosted its Search Engine. Now researchers, photobuyers, designers, art directors, and other image users can search over three million images from eighty-plus agencies, in one search from our site.
Behind the scenes the technical team at StockIndexOnline have been putting long hours into integrating hordes of photo stock libraries into the front end. Now you can quickly search a large number of sites simultaneously with one query.
StockIndexOnline grew out of the Stock Index printed guide to picture agencies, now distributed free to over 30,000 photobuyers globally in two editions: UK/Europe and USA. Publisher Bob Prior outlines how it started: “I launched Stock Index twenty seven years ago, a printed guide to specialist stock photo libraries. It had a distribution of 5,000 copies and featured thirty stock libraries. Today we have a distribution of 30,000 copies and over 300 stock libraries featured.”
The Stock Index has long prided itself on being the resource guide to specialist stock libraries and their websites. Prior adds, “I have always acknowledged the phenomenal breadth and depth of the specialist collections. It is only through specialist libraries you truly reach that level of professional knowledge and range of images.”
Though there is a substantial demand for the printed version, it was time for an update. Although individual libraries could be searched from the StockIndexOnline portal, the search facilities on the website needed to be uprated to reflect advances in technology and the changing face of internet searching.
Now image-users can search three million images with one click, with the average result arriving in seven seconds.
Educational book researcher Julie Caruso (www.lernerbooks.com/) says: “It’s a great way to broaden the scope of access to many image sources and it’s a quick way to access harder to find images. Also, through the site I have discovered some great smaller niche agencies that I probably would not have had time to seek out independently.”
“What a brilliant site and what a time saver! Imagine how long it would take to search these sites separately (assuming you’d heard of them all of course), first having had to register and then wait for a password. instead you can instantly access a really good cross section of libraries and bring up loads of quality images in one hit.”adds Kay Rowley, a highly-experienced stills and archive researcher.
Prior continues: “Every day the number of images increases – but it is not about more images but about searching /Specialist Collections/.
When you use /Search/ you are reaching out to unique content – you are mining a range of specialist images not found with this ease before – you are bringing the /best and most appropriate/ to your desktop speedily.”
