Review: Blatner Tools 1.0.1 for InDesign CS3 and CS4

This article is excerpted from the February/March 2010 issue of InDesign Magazine, #34. Buy this issue or subscribe to InDesign Magazine.
Every InDesign user has a mental list of “I wish InDesign could…” features rattling around in their heads. We wait and hope the next version will answer these wishes, but that doesn’t always happen.
David Blatner decided not to wait. He spent most of InDesign’s first decade teaching people how to get better with what InDesign has built in, but with the release of Blatner Tools — a $149 suite of 12 plug-ins designed by Blatner and developed by DTP Tools — David expands InDesign’s feature set and adds many productivity boosters to existing features in InDesign CS3, CS4, and even CS5, which came out after the plug-in’s intitial release. [Editor’s note: The plug-in suite is on sale for $99 until November 30, 2010.] To download the full Blatner Tools review as a PDF, click on this link or on the image below, which shows Blatner Tools’ in-document color report.

David, can you project InDesign CS5 and your great Blatner Tools relationship? Upgrade coming?

Three thoughts about Blatner Tools and CS5. First, virtually none of the Blatner Tools features are in CS5 — that is, BT is just as relevant as ever. Second, DTPtools will be upgrading Blatner Tools for CS5, and — most importantly — there will be no upgrade fee for the new version. Try the free download at blatnertools.com and check it out!
