New Riders Announces Voices That Matter: Web Design Conference

New Riders, Pearson’s Web design imprint, today announced the launch of a dedicated conference for the Web design community, Voices That Matter: Web Design Conference, to be held October 22-25, 2007, at San Francisco’s Grand Hyatt. The conference brings together New Riders’ bestselling authors, Web designers, and creative professionals from the industry’s top companies and design firms – including Jakob Nielsen, Steve Krug, Kelly Goto, and many others. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with, learn from, and be inspired by the Voices That Matter in the Web design community.
Voices That Matter: Web Design Conference will include workshops and sessions designed to inspire and help solve real-world Web design challenges, now and for the future. These sessions, led by respected Web professionals and well-known authors, include Designing Authentic Media: Leveraging the Wisdom of Communities (Derek Powazek), Web to Mobile: Designing for the iPhone (Kelly Goto), Web Design for ROI (Sandra Niehaus), and many more. A complete schedule can be viewed at: https://www.voicesthatmatter.com/webdesign2007/wdsessions.html.
The extensive list of conference speakers includes Web usability expert Jakob Nielsen (author of Prioritizing Web Usability); usability consultant Steve Krug (author of Don’t Make Me Think: A Commonsense Approach to Web Usability, 2nd Edition); Web standards expert Jeremy Keith (author of Bulletproof Ajax); and Web designer and consultant Andy Clarke (author of Transcending CSS: The Fine Art of Web Design). "Our editors have collaborated with our top authors – and listened carefully to our most loyal readers – to create an event specifically geared for today’s Web Designer to gain new skills and discover new sources of inspiration," said Nancy Ruenzel, publisher of New Riders and Peachpit and Vice President of Pearson Technology Group. "But some of the most rewarding learning, no doubt, will be happening in the hallways and in between sessions, where attendees will have the opportunity to personally interact with speakers and editors to exchange ideas and best practices."
Voices That Matter: Web Design Conference will abound with sessions that encourage networking, enabling participants to capitalize on the collective wisdom of the community and mingle with other designers and creative teams from around the world, across industries, and across disciplines.
The Voices That Matter conference series, organized and produced by Pearson, serves its reader communities and authors – the industry influencers and superstars in their fields – by providing a forum for learning and collaboration. The 2007 conference series also includes Voices That Matter: Google Web Toolkit, to be held December 3-6, 2007, at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel.
