Monotype Imaging debuts the ITC Library, OpenType Edition

Monotype Imaging has introduced the ITC® Library, OpenType® Edition, featuring the complete works of the International Typeface Corporation. In addition to more than 1,650 typefaces in 1,320 OpenType files on one CD, the library includes 100 new typefaces and over 650 exclusive designs.
“The OpenType format unifies the design process for everyone working with different platforms and different languages,” said Sumner Stone, award-winning designer and contributor of the collection’s widely used ITC Stone® family. “The ITC Library, OpenType Edition brings these benefits to some of the finest typefaces ever created, preparing them for today’s designers and future generations as well.”
OpenType fonts offer flexibility and convenience such as cross-platform compatibility between Macintosh® and Windows® computers, the ability to access alternate characters without switching to a different font, and the ability to replace multiple characters with ligatures automatically.
“From timeless text families to contemporary display designs, ITC has always been a valuable typographic resource to creative professionals,” said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Monotype Imaging. “The OpenType version of the library also gives us a new distinction – we have now created the largest selection of OpenType fonts.”
In addition to the ITC Stone family, the OpenType edition of the ITC library features such best-selling designs as the ITC Franklin Gothic™, ITC Officina® Sans and ITC Conduit® text families, and the ITC Edwardian Script™ and ITC Bradley Hand™ display designs. The ITC Resavska™, ITC Tactile™ and ITC Stone Humanist™ typefaces highlight the new releases. Among the more distinguished typeface designers joining Stone who have contributed to the collection are Matthew Carter, Mark Van Bronkhorst and Herb Lubalin.
The ITC Library, OpenType Edition is available from Fonts.com by calling 1-800-424-8973 in the U.S. and Canada or 1-781-970-6020 from all other parts of the world. A 10 CPU library license is $3,899, and a 20 CPU license is $5,999.
