iPad News Round-Up

Did you grow as tired of the Apple tablet rumors as I did? Yesterday, the company finally laid rumors to rest by unveiling the real thing: the iPad. The device is 1.5 pounds, a half-inch thick, and has a 9.7-inch backlit display. It can host music, movies, games, the Web, and what may be of most interest to content creators — eBooks and media we’ve only had hints of so far.
The iPad will be available in late March 2010 at the following price points:
– $499 (16GB, Wi-Fi)
– $599 (32GB, Wi-Fi)
– $699 (64GB, Wi-Fi)
– $629 (16GB, 3G)
– $729 (32GB, 3G)
– $829 (32GB, 3G)

I imagine a lot of people want to know if the ipad will get some sort of ‘lite’ version of the creative suite. I’d love to be able to sketch out ideas in p-shop, illustrator or indesign on an ipad (perhaps with limited features), dock the pad to my desktop mac and then carry on working on the files in the main CS applications on the Desktop mac.

If you mean a light version of Adobe’s Creative Suite, I doubt it *very* much. However, I’m sure iPad-focused apps that edit photos, draw in vectors, etc. will soon arise.

I’m a bit upset that the iPad has no camera. Why such a glaring omission? I found this article on https://www.ipadsupersite.com by the way.

Silly name but a great concept. Needs a camera for conferencing purposes and note-taking and needs a SIM card inside for added memory and so you can accept and remove data without hooking up to another device. I think the slot at the right hand side is for inserting SIM cards but what I want is somewhere to put it inside so it is safer and a more long-term memory aid. I need one today!!!!
